Anisotropic Flow of Charged Particles in Pb-Pb Collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

2016

We report the first results of elliptic (v2), triangular (v3), and quadrangular (v4) flow of charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √sNN p ¼ 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The measurements are performed in the central pseudorapidity region jηj < 0.8 and for the transverse momentum range 0.2 < pT < 5 GeV=c. The anisotropic flow is measured using two-particle correlations with a pseudorapidity gap greater than one unit and with the multiparticle cumulant method. Compared to results from Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN p ¼ 2.76 TeV, the anisotropic flow coefficients v2, v3, and v4 are found to increase by ð3.0 0.6Þ%, ð…

On predictions of the first results from RHIC

2001

In this talk, I will discuss the predictions of the first results from RHIC: the charged particle multiplicity $dN_{\rm ch}/d\eta$, its centrality dependence and the elliptic flow $v_2$.

Particle flow modelling in slurry-fed stirred vessels

2004

In this paper experimental information on the retention time distribution (RTD) of solid particles in a high-aspect-ratio vessel, stirred by three equally spaced Rushton turbines, is presented. The relevant data were obtained by a special technique named twin system approach (TSA) that greatly simpli+es the handling of particle-laden streams and is therefore particularly suited for investigating particle RTD in 9ow systems. The technique fundamentals are +rst summarized, together with the data analysis procedure. This lastly requires a numerical deconvolution operation that is easily performed with the help of Z-transforms. Two di;erent approaches for excluding the spurious contributions of…
